When configuring a printer for the first time, take it
out of the box, plug in the power supply, add it to HP Smart, load paper,
insert the ink cartridges, and finish the setup process.

- Take
the printer out of its packaging.
- Take
remove all the packing materials and tape from the printer's exterior.
- Take
off the tape from the cartridge access door after lowering the output tray.
- Getting
the cartridge access door open
- Take
out all the cardboard and tape from the printer's interior while the cartridge
door is open.
- Shut
the access door for the ink cartridge.
- Take
out all the components and hardware from the package.
- Recycle
the packaging materials and the box.
- Turn
on the printer by plugging it into an electrical outlet.
- Hit
the Power button.
- Hold
off until the printer is quiet and inactive.
Connect your printer
to the HP Smart app
The HP Smart app facilitates the connection between your
mobile and printer and is necessary. It also walks you through the remaining
steps of the setup.
- To
download and install the software, visit 123.hp.com.
- Launch
the application, then press To locate your printer, touch the + symbol or add a
new one.
- To
connect the printer to your network and device, simply follow the HP Smart
prompts.
- Download
Instant Ink or HP+.
- To
load paper and install setup cartridges, follow the HP Smart app's animation.
Complete the setup by installing the ink cartridges
- Open
the access door for the ink cartridge after lowering the output tray.
- Take
the ink cartridge out of its container.
- After
holding the cartridge by its sides, take off the tape covering it.
- After
inserting the cartridge into the matching, color-coded slot, press up until it
clicks into place.
- Shut
the access door for the ink cartridge.
- A
series of information pages, including an alignment page, are printed by the
printer.
- To
achieve the greatest print quality, calibrate the cartridges according to the
directions on the alignment page.
